How to Choose Watermelon

02 Aug

Choose a watermelon that's dull, not shiny, uniform in shape, look for the creamy patch - the deeper in color, the longer the melon has been ripening, the "navel" should be small, the stem should have started to curve, the light stripes should be raggety and broken, the dark stripes evenly colored and the contrast between stripes should be small, and the melon should be firm, not hard and not soft either, and it should have slight ridges lengthwise around its "waist".
